well oh uh um ah if your doing that i take it your
trying to get sounboards.quick way of getting the
grateful dead soundboards pulled from the archive.
only audience recording are available for download
and those files aren't the low bit rate m3u files.
those come in flac, shn, ogg and vbr mp3.if you want
the sbd's get yourself a torrent client like utorrent
and download away at places like bt.etree and get
the better quality audio,m3u is horrible unless you
like that constant bell ring in the background
on a nice audio system.

Just to clarify something....

M3U files are just play list files. Essentially a text file containing the list of MP3 files to play. They do not contain any music data at all, besides the list of what to play.

The Archive provides 2 types of M3U playlists .One is the Lo-Fi 64kbps (probably the low quality you speak of) and the other is the Hi-Fi VBR.

I'm sure you find access to nice MP3 and better files as you go along. The reviews here and many threads are full of interesting nook & crannies on show details of all kinds. I lazily follow this day in history threads, TDIH, and whatever pops up in recently reviewed.

One place you can still get some decent MP3s easily is nugs.net.

Some AUD recording are good like

http://www.archive.org/details/gd1971-08-06.fob-SonyECM22p.miller.88816.sbeok.flac16

...and others are good enough to see if you want the better recording, like gd73-12-02 AUD released as DP14.

I just want to say, hippie64, that that question has been asked many times here, but never so politely, and with as much respect for the site as you did! :D

Hats off to you, man. I wish everyone could follow your example... welcome.

Here is another AUD tape from Boton Music Hall to download.

If you want to get some SBDs - Get a Bittorrent client and try the the E-Tree Community tracker. They come and go from there; but Weir and Co will not allow anyone to compile and store a permanent archive, even if they deleted official releases.

Don't ask if there is a way to hack the SBDs here. "We know nuzzing."

Thanx to everyone for clearing up that M3U mess for me, I knew from the start I guess that I was knee deep in the hoopla and did'nt understand the finer points. It figures that the sweetest HCSS I ever heard just could'nt be downloaded that easily. Am I missing sumthin again or can a 73-04-02 audience rec be found on the arc. I went to bt.etree and no luck. Did I set my sights to high?

Kindness abounds here at this site, I wish the whole world could take a lesson from the deadhead community,With the recent passing of all these icons of americana my only wish would be that more people could have discovered the joy that jerrys gutiar playing has given me. Thanx agian for the nugg, I'll listen and apprieciate once agian his beauty.

A SBD of 4/2/73 can be had here.

You will need to get set up for bit torrent. Google bit torrent to get the basics. If you have questions...stop back in and ask. I and many others here will be happy to help you get started.
Just a word of warning.....downloading can become addictive. LOL. Once you do the first one it is hard to stop. Ask anyone here...we're all recovering download addicts to one degree or another :-)
